point of reference for the dog, without hiding behind
the person.

Basenji, who has reacted by seeking support from her
owner.
This mixed breed male is learning to
keep near his owner when unfamiliar people approach.
Upon seeing unfamiliar dogs, this female
Chihuahua is seeking support from her owner.

The Staffordshire runs toward her owner, followed
playfully by a Berger Blanc Suisse puppy. The red and
white Border Collie stops the Berger Blanc Suisse, who
stretches her muzzle forward, turning her ears sideways
and continuing to move forward. The Border Collie
positions himself in front of his owner's legs, and
again blocks the Berger Blanc Suisse. The Border Collie
then chases her, and when he reaches her reacts to the
barking of a male German Shepherd from the puppy's
family group by turning his ears sideways and back,
lowering his tail and seeking
support from his owner. When the Staffordshire
and the puppy again approach, he presses down the Berger
Blanc Suisse puppy with a paw.

The sable mixed breed male is walking stiffly towards
the female Golden Retriever, exhibiting a rear approach.
The Retriever moves a few steps away, then stands still
with tail down. She then looks at the male, who wags his
tail and moves his head. The female sniffs the air, then
moves closer and sniffs him. In the background a second
female Golden Retriever belonging to the same family
group as the other Retriever seeks
support from her owner. The male jaw-punches
the female, who swerves away, shifting her weight
backwards, then leaves to seek
support from her owner.
